Premier League round up 21/1/13

Written by Lewis Winter

Southampton 0-0 Everton
Everton collected their 12th league draw in the Premier League this season, after Southampton held them at St Mary's tonight. The home side dominated the first period and should have at least gone into half time with a lead, with Rikki Lambert causing a constant threat to the Toffees defence, but failing to find the finish that was needed. New Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino would have been happy with his side's first half efforts, but disappointed with the lack of end product.

The game was a more even affair in the second half, as Everton fought back from their poor first half display, with Nikica Jelavic spurring their best chance from 10 yards out. Southampton were still pushing forward, but were unable to create the clear cut chances that they had done in the first period, with the game eventually finishing goalless. Southampton remain 15th on 23 points, with Everton 5th on 38.

Man of the Match: Luke Shaw
